Lagos, Lest We Forget O

Sound installation.

Window, acrylic paint, LED lamps, audio.

Audio upon request.

(2021 - Ongoing)

This installation explores themes of hope and renewal within the context of the rapidly changing social, political and cultural landscapes of Lagos. It charts, through sound and light, the awakening of the city at sunrise — a reenactment of my memories of visits to Nigeria at distinct points in my life. Whilst the city lies beyond a painted window, its sounds seep into the intimate, in-between space where visitors are encouraged to sit or stand and observe, listen, reflect.
